Hi friends, and welcome to Linkup Share Lives this month. Today we’re chatting about how we rest. Hmmm … how to rest? Well, I think it really depends on some things – like the season of my life, what kind of day I experienced, and what I felt I needed the most at that time.
Rest can be as simple as a small pause to reset (hello hormones and emotions), or they can be a mental holiday, where I let my mind wander. They can also be bigger, such as a pleasant vacation, trip, the term school term, special events, or noble guilt-free days when I give myself permission to have the same day (or almost none at all).
So let’s go into it – come with me when I share how I rest.
Micro break
I think Micro-Breaks is a total sanity of sanity! They are at small times when you sneak up to a place you can be alone – even if it’s only briefly – to breathe before you lose your mind.
Haha, I remember when the children were still small and the bathroom was the only place where I could rest. I will lock the door and just sit there, take time for myself. Have you ever done it?
Mental vacation
Sometimes I do mental escape – in other words, I daydream. I will revive the journey of the past or plan the future (I start to feel brave to get on a plane now!). At other times, I let my mind roam to win the lottery and how I decorate my house, especially thinking about what kind of Walk-in Wardrobe. There are too many chandeliers, so I might look for a slim lighting.
Daydreaming like this might look silly, but this is a pretty good way to make your brain rest. This allows me to stay away from anything that makes me stressed at this time and just have fun in my head, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
Ongoing
I walked to and from work. Walking before work is a mental break that helps me prepare for the next day. “Yes, today will be the best day ever” is my spell. Walking home helped me relieve stress and ring in my ears from the noise constant at work. Walking is not only part of my routine, but also one of my favorite ways to rest.
The term rest and special event
I am very fortunate to work in preschool because we get a term rest! That means three rest two noble breaks and then a large break five weeks at the end of the year. I don’t think I will last a long time to work in early childhood education if it wasn’t for this valuable term.
For me, special events such as Christmas, public holidays, birthdays, and family meetings are also resting. Unless you hosting, of course – then all systems run! These special events are fun to look forward and pleasant rest from the usual routine.
There are no days
Occasionally (though not as often as I want), I give myself the right day. That’s when I didn’t have a plan and decided, yes, today I did nothing.
But I can only do it now because my children are adults and my husband works at night, so I’m often alone at home. When the children were small and I took care of my beautiful mother, a day was not impossible. Gosh – The house will fall apart! There are no fun days. I still try not to feel guilty about them, but that is another post.
And that’s how I rest! I also do things like enjoying a cup of tea, playing with a crushing candy, doing duolingo lessons, and tracing Pinterest for fashion inspiration and home decoration.
Thank you for stopping by. I want to hear what you take a break because we are all sure to need it, right?
Have a nice day!
