You don’t mind working overtime if necessary now, right?
Limited days of illness but pizza during the office party is not!
We are like family here, so employees don’t mind answering phone calls or receiving emails after work.
If you think that this phrase sounds like warning signs when said in a job interview, it is because of their most likely; Asking about overtime is arguably the company checking to see how willing you are to work hard, pizza comments means that you might have to put your job on your health when you have to rest, and compare themselves with the family only accurately if the family referred to by the interviewer is rather dysfunctional.
But these three examples are far from one -the sign that shows that certain workplaces may not be the best choice. The new ‘Ask Reddit’ community member discussed more such indicators, after the ‘Photo_inbloom’ user asked them about the red flag that everyone had to know when attending a job interview.
If you are curious to learn what is explained by the red flag netizens, scroll down to find it on the list below, where you will also find Tired of panda Interview with OP itself and with Director Lerner College Career Services Center at the University of Delaware, Jill Panté, which is good enough to answer our questions about job interviews.
If they tell you at the time of arrival that the work you are applying for is no longer available, but they have a very similar position that has just been opened – immediately leave.
This is a bait tactic and switch coupled with a sinking cost. The “new” position will be synonymous with the original that you apply – except the salary is significantly lower. They hope you will play together because you appear to be interviewed, maybe despair to work and will accept any job – no matter the wages.
In addition, the position you are applying for is not true – or at least not on the advertised wages.
Former (female) I applied for the role of the manager. Interview panels include male CEO, female leader and don’t remember who else.
In the end, my ex directing questions to female leaders about her experiences there as female leaders.
The CEO jumped before he could answer and answer it.
Who said a lot.
“We don’t like ‘clockwatchers’ here. We hope everyone is committed.” Expect more jobs without additional payment. Angry to you when you leave at 5 even though the working hours you declare ended at 5.
One red flag must be when they talk about how the company is “like family.” 🥴 Like, that usually means they expect you to be super available all the time and place work above everything, even your true life.
“No one wants to work anymore” – You will find out exactly why no one wants to work for them.
Seriously, * every job * I work that says that during the poisonous and low -paid interviews.
When you sign all the forms they give to you and you take the time to read each document so that you can fully understand what you face and people come and start telling you that you don’t need to read this and it only signs here and so on.
When you ask, “Tell me about time when one of your employees really impresses you.” And they can’t give you a single example.
My current job gives me many examples of how their team members impress them. That’s how I know I want to work there.
As a comparison, when I asked this in another interview, the answer was, “There are so many examples and I can’t focus on just one.” What I interpreted as, “I don’t really appreciate my staff.” I am happy not to get the offer.
If you have to make financial investment to the company to work there.
I interviewed the window installation company and did a good test. They want me to sell and say I need to pay a laptop. They will cover it and get it out of my check if I don’t have cash to pay in advance.
The red flag is when the interviewer does not ask about your experience or skills in detail but focuses on your willingness to work for hours or handle excessive workloads. That can mean they expect you to work too much.
One time they said, “We hope that people work here to have fun, not money”. Inspired by Dilbert comics, my response is “If you really mean that, then what if you give me your money and I will give you a pleasant part?”
If they say things like “we have difficulty filling this position” or giving instructions about having a high level of turnover. There is a reason why everyone leaves.
Learn this in a difficult way.
The main red flag that must be considered during a job interview is if the interviewer or company representative is talking negatively about the current employees or ex. This behavior can indicate a toxic work environment in which errors and negatives are common.
When they can’t even bother seeing your resume like Bro if you want me to work for you at least fake it.
I went to an interview for the low -level admin position, and they made my cellphone put my cellphone in the bucket in front, stating “no telephone is permitted behind. This reduces productivity.” Big not for me.
If your interview is between 12 to 2, look. If everyone in their booth has lunch. Red flag.
